Dakota Blue Richards was born in England. She's most famous for her roles as Lyra Belaqua in the film 'The Golden Compass' Franky Fitzgerald in the third generation of the British teens' drama Skins. Additionally, she has a long tradition of appearing on stage in various plays, including 'Arcadia' and A Streetcar Named Desire. Richards is from London, but was raised in Sussex. Richards attended a few theater classes at school however, she took the majority of acting classes during the weekends. The school day was shortened to go on auditions. 'The Golden Compass' was her debut on screen as an actor. Though the film got some mixed reviews, Richards received widespread positive review about her character. In the following year she had her first screen debut with the TV film "Dustbin baby".
